The penalty phase of Kaboni Savage’s trial has started. Most of it is routine at this point, but one thing stuck out in my mind and has me so angry I could breathe fire! His lawyers have actually stated that one of the mitigating factors is that he has never harmed another inmate or prison guard, nor has he tried to escape. Really? Seriously? Who cares! What about the innocent people he had firebombed? YOu know, the children who were burned to death. And that is an awful, heinous way to die. They apparently don’t matter in this, at least to him and his lawyers. I hope this jury does not fall for this song and dance. His crimes (and he was convicted on every charge he was charged with) are horrendous and he absolutely deserves the death penalty.
