Re: Parole Hearing Planned for Mark Sotka, Inmate # A271852
Please DO NOT grant parole to Mark Sotka, Inmate # A271852. As a concerned citizen, I am writing to protest the projected parole of this convicted murderer.
On July 31, 192, Mark Sotka brutally murdered Angel Ormston after finding out that she was pregnant and refused to get an abortion, and then hid her body for an agonizing 4 months before going to have pizza with friends. While the city, state and nation looked for Angel, Mark went on with his life as if it had never happened. Angel’s badly decomposed body was found on December 15, 1992 lying face down in a water filled ditch. On December 31, 1992, Mark was arrested for the kidnapping and murder of Angel Ormston. He later signed a detailed statement admitting that he punched Angel in the face and stabbed her twice near her heart.
The loss of Angel devastated her family, friends and neighbors. The community lost an amazing young woman, who was an Angel on earth before being taken by the hands of a thoughtless and calculating killer.
In order to avoid the death penalty Mark pled guilty and was sentenced in February 1993.
The heinous nature of the murder of Angel Ormston, the multiple crimes committed and the age & innocence of the victim should preclude any consideration of parole for Mark Sotka. His actions have shown that he is extremely volatile and that he has no regard for human life. For this heinous crime, Mark Sotka was sentenced to life in prison but he sentenced the Ormston family and friends to a lifetime of grief and sorrow.
In the interests of justice, public safety, and to lessen the emotional trauma for the victim’s family, please consider giving Mark Sotka a three year set off before any future parole reviews.
Thank you for your consideration,
Sincerely,
